Basic Metabolite Rate (BMR) Formula

As described in the previous article that there are two factors that influence body mass, ie internal factors and external factors. One of the internal factors that influence body mass is the “Basic metabolite Rate (BMR). ” At this opportunity we will discuss more about BMR.

BMR Formula

Basic metabolite Rate (BMR) is the energy needed by Humans to simply live in a state of rest and without doing any activity. There are several factors that affect BMR namely sex, weight, height and age. Here is the formula of the BMR.

English BMR Formula
Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) – ( 4.7 x age in years )
Men: BMR = 66 + ( 6.23 x weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 x height in inches ) – ( 6.8 x age in year )

Metric BMR Formula
Women: BMR = 655 + ( 9.6 x weight in kilos ) + ( 1.8 x height in cm ) – ( 4.7 x age in years )
Men: BMR = 66 + ( 13.7 x weight in kilos ) + ( 5 x height in cm ) – ( 6.8 x age in years )

BMR is a matter of calories needed if we just rest alone. From BMR we can make one element in calculating calorie needs. Of course, in addition to BMR else we need to calculate caloric needs is the other internal factors and external factors such as level of activity of each person.

After knowing the BMR then we will calculate how many calories needed by each activity. So we can estimate how many calories that enter a minimum energy intake.ut
